Tyler Brushes His Teeth

Don't worry...we brush them for him too. :) I was just brushing my teeth this morning and he started "pretend" brushing his teeth and giggling about it. I wasn't sure if he was actually signing it (it is something that we recently started signing and but he has seen on his signing videos a lot) or was just copying me. So I gave him his toothbrush and then did what any mom addicted to picture taking does...I took pictures. :) And since these are the only ones I have taken today...these are getting posted. :)

Here they are...Ellie looks tortured doesn't she? :) She has not been happy all day because I shut the door to our bedroom this morning and she has had to "rough" it for naps (she LOVES to sleep on our bed during the day).

Tyler Gets a Haircut

So I took Tyler to get his haircut this morning. I just can't stand when it is over his ears and as the first picture shows it has gotten quite long. This was the first time that I thought to take a camera (bad mom) but is actually his fifth haircut! I can't believe how many he has already had.

We go to a place specially for little kids. It is very colorful, has chairs to strap them in, and a fun cartoon to watch while they sit there. The hairdresser is amazing! Very patient with Tyler (Tyler likes to help out) and very quick with her scissors.

Tyler was mesmorized by the cartoon! He only tried to help her out when she pulled out the trimmers. Once I held his hands (he was trying to grab it) he just sat there and giggled (the trimmer must have been tickling him). The place gives him this card to hold on too, and if he is good he gets to put it in their machine when the haircut is over. It goes through this elaborate noisy performance and ultimately spits out a surprise toy. Last time it was a sticker in a plastic container, and this time bubbles! Tyler didn't really care last time about the prize but he immedilate dropped my keys (the boy loves keys) to grab the bubbles. He held on to them the whole way home and then through lunch.

So the haircut went well and now Tyler looks a little more civilized. :) The salon was great too because they only charge me for a buzz cut for boys since Tyler is so little (though the hairdresser said that he had so much thick hair that we might have to pay full price next time). But then she gave us a bunch of coupons so that the price ultimately stays the same (maybe she could sense that I wasn't going to come back if she charged me $4 more dollars). :) So I am happy there because the buzz cut and coupons make it as cheap as the cheaper haircutters for kids and yet I don't have to hold Tyler down because he is so engrossed in the television (reaffirming why we don't watch programs at home).

Other that that, Tyler is just growing and growing. And learning the limits of his abilities. He has started climbing like a monkey at play class, much to my delight (read with a lot of sarcasm here). He even is crawling away from the music times to go crawl on the equipment (slides, ladders, big stepping blocks). So no longer can I just sit and visit with the other moms....now I am off making sure that Tyler doesn't learn about gravity the hard way. :)

He also had his first run in with another child. The child was on a slide (everyone in this class crawls or walks up the slide....that is just more fun than doing it the "right" way). Tyler was trying to pull himself up onto the slide too and the boy walked down it and hit him smack in the nose. This boy is two months older than Tyler and has an older sister so his mom says that this is his new thing. Tyler didn't cry (though it was hard enough I thought that he would). He just looked confused. As I was going to pick him up the boy hit him in the nose again. Again, no tears. Just bewilderment. The other mom was super apologetic and kept her son away from Tyler the rest of the class. And I know that that is all that we could do...but I was ready to pick him up and run out of there. I think that that moment affected me more that Tyler since Tyler just climbed up onto the slide once the boy left like nothing had happened. Still...just hard to watch....though I know that that definitely wasn't the last time something like that would happen or probably the worst....but he is still my little baby and I feel horrible that I couldn't prevent it.

Well...Tyler is napping and the dogs are barking and pawing at me while I type. So I am done for today and am going to play with them. Below are some pictures from Tyler's haircut. :)

Tyler Plays With His Reflection

Tyler discovered his reflection in the fireplace today....so he played and talked for awhile to his new friend. I couldn't resist taking pictures. :)

Being shy when I asked him to sign dog for me. :) He tries to hide his face in his high chair.

And a picture or two of Ellie and Carlie of course. :) Carlie is back to her normal self today as she ate her breakfast incredibly fast, and then went outside with Ellie to try and catch six (yes...six) squirrels that were on our ground. I am surprised that the girls waited for me to open the back door they were so excited. And fortunately for me, they were loud enough (barking that is) that the squirrels were up the tree by the time that the dogs got there. :)

I tried getting him to say "dad" or "dog" because he LOVES to sign those throughout the day (especially if he sees a picture of Adam or hears me mention his dad...or sees the dogs...which is ALL the time). :) But today he didn't want to sign them, only say them. So no pictures of those. :( And those are the signs we do the most. Oh well....I am sure I have them on here at some point. :)

Another "all done". I probably made him do it a dozen times to get a picture and here he is getting tired of my attempts to get the picture as he put his hands on his highchair and just kept saying "up". :)

Lunar Eclipse

Well, I know that everyone in Oklahoma wasn't able to see the lunar eclipse last night due to cloud cover, so I thought that I would post a picture or two. They aren't the greatest (you may have to click on them to enlarge them) but I want to share anyways since we actually stood outside in the freezing cold to see it. :)

Seeing if I am going to let him ring the bell. Usually it prompts a "no-no" from me because between him and Ellie it would be ringing all day. But this time I decided to let him do it. Not consistent....I know...but I wanted to try out the continuous shoot button on the camera (I usually forget that it is there).

The continuous shoot function worked well. Below are just a few pictures that we took during the process of him ringing the bell. :)

Now you need to open the door mom. :) (Right now Tyler laughs hysterically when Ellie is on the other side of this door because they just look at each other and she is usually barking to be let back in).

So I am going to end the pictures here. Ellie won't stop barking at me! And Carlie is whining upstairs. With as drugged as Carlie is, and as crazy as Ellie is (after just a few hours without Carlie) I am thinking that I would have lost my sanity (or what's left of it) had we gone through with the surgery.
