09.01.10: For the first time today, Kevin refused to leave the gym he was having so much fun. Unfortunately, for him we did leave to go to the library where he fell out of a chair and gave himself a black eye. :(
08.31.10: Kevin LOVES to count to 10 with you these days. Some of the numbers you can't understand but he gets so excited to count. And most of the time he will count "1, 2, 3" and then expect you to throw him or him fall down...a byproduct of playing with daddy too much since they love to play games like that. He is also into the Alphabet and fills in "B, P, and Z" when we sing the song. Otherwise, he still enjoys just listening to us sing it.
05.18.10: Kevin LOVES airplanes and anytime we are outside or have the windows open and one flies overhead, he gets so excited. He will start signing "airplane" and saying "uck" over and over. And last night he was very excited to go to bed with some pj's that had airplanes all over them. He is also starting to get more into cars and trucks. He has figured out how to say "car' and now will point out every car by signing and saying it. He also likes to point out trucks and will say "ucks" as we pass one.
05.17.10: Today was Kevin's first swim class. He is in the class with three other kids ranging from 18 months to 2 1/2. He was hestitant at first, but quickly warmed up and didn't mind putting his face in the water, falling off the side of the pool, or floating on his back. He also surprised me last night when we were singing songs. We finished a song and he looked up and signed "more" and then got a big grin and signed "song". He looked back up at me with the biggest eyes and grin and I was so excited. It was the first time he had signed "song" and after that he kept doing it after each song...meaning more songs out of me. :)
05.12.10: New signs include "please" and "night night". And his newest words include "yellow", "purple" and "baby". He thinks that ALL colors are "yellow" and maybe that will be his favorite color like his big brother...but I am guessing that the focus is because big brother is always pointing it out for him. Yesterday, though I got him recognizing "purple" and he just loved saying it....and then today all day he has been saying "baby" while signing "baby signing". So we are now sitting down to watch a "baby signing time". :)
05.08.10: While Tyler and Kevin were playing in Tyler's room, Adam and I were talking in our bedroom when Tyler came running in with some toys so he could play in there too. We asked him what Kevin was doing (we both assumed Kevin was in Tyler's room) and Tyler told us that Kevin went to go watch t.v. So we go to look for him and sure enough he had climbed into the glider and was sitting there just watching Baby Signing Time (we watched the video earlier and I just hadn't turned it off)!!! We weren't in our room for more than five minutes tops so this was quite shocking and cute for us too see.
05.06.10: Kevin is adding lots of signs and words it seems almost daily. His newest ones are "cat", "bird", "flower", "ball" and "car". He also started fake sneezing to get you to say "Bless you" (that is so cute because he does his sneeze and then looks up with a big grin) and he will make the sound of a monkey (his first animal sound to make). He really likes the signing too, as out of the blue will ask for "more milk" or "book" or even "Baby signing time" (he just does the "Baby" and "Signing" but it is still pretty obvious when he is ready to watch one).
05.05.10: Got to hear Kevin say "no no" for the first time ever. Unfortunately, for Tyler, it was while Kevin was playing at the train table and he was slapping at Tyler to get away from the orange train Kevin was playing with.
04.30.10: 15 Month Appointment: 25lbs, 11 ounces (65th percentile), 2 feet, 6.5 inches (31st percentile) and 48.6 cm head circumference. Got three shots and all looks well!
04.30.10: Walked up to be this morning with a book in his hand. Snuggled into my lap and signed "book" while saying "book". So cute. I enjoyed our snuggle while reading.
04.25.10: Yesterday, Kevin learned and practiced how to sign "shoes". I even got some pictures of it. He just seems so proud he can talk to us now, and it makes things so much easier. For instance, we went out to eat last night and he was so good...just signing when he wanted more or a drink. He only had one meltdown, and I don't blame him, when they brought out chips and he just kept signing food and pointing to the chips. But when nothing was coming his way (I forgot to pack cereal), he started crying. Thankfully, it didn't last long as he got interested in something besides food and soon enough his food arrived. But it is always so sad to know what he wants/needs and you know it won't be much longer, but he doesn't realize it. Anyways, just wanted to share how proud I am of him for all that he is learning!!
04.24.10: Starting to take a lot more steps on his own. Will stand up on his own now and just stand...and then most of the time take 5-6 steps before giving up and crawling again. He has also started signing "book", "eat" and "bath" and can't wait for bath time! Now that the upstairs bath is post-repair he LOVES going crazy splashing and kicking in the water with his big brother. He is getting so big!

10.31.09: Kevin is now well over nine months and LOVES to stand. At anytime he is pulling up on things to explore his world on a new level, and of course always attempting to get a better glimpse at the blue light on the DVR, or any electrical outlets. Definitely have to keep a close eye on him!
10.27.09: Kevin surprises us all by standing in his crib this morning chewing on the handrail as Adam, Tyler, and I enter to say good morning. It was his first time to get "caught" standing up in his crib and we were glad that he woke up early enough so Adam could see it too!
10.20.09: My heart is melting as I listen to Kevin repeat "dada" over and over with different inflections while sitting in his highchair eating sliced bananas. I know that the "dada" doesn't refer to Adam quite yet, but he is now saying two syllable words and that is just too cool! He is getting so big saying his big words and eating sliced food!!
10.12.09: Kevin is once again battling a cold. The poor guy constantly seems to have a cold lately. So, he is sleeping a lot more again, and soaking up any cuddle time that he can work into our crazy days. In fact, Kevin enjoyed a nice snuggle/sleep with Adam yesterday at church (this usually doesn't happen as we are busy keeping tabs on Tyler and passing Kevin back and forth, but with the nursery open again, Adam and I got some quality alone time with Kevin during Mass). The cold hasn't stopped him though from exploring the house and having fun though. This weekend, he was quick to remind us that things like electrical cords, outlets, and newspapers are interesting to him, and he is quick to move when it comes to getting what he wants...not crawling yet, but can scoot, turn, and grab quickly! He also spent the weekend doing a lot of standing up against toys. He LOVES to stand and play, whether it is the piano, car walker, or musical play table. He has figured out how to push buttons, turn things, and generally how to make the toys "play", and with this new skill brings the attention of big brother. Kevin does a good job of conveying that he wants to play with a certain thing on the toy though despite Tyler trying to take over, and so a lot of Saturday was spent practicing sharing with both boys.
10.01.09: This morning we discovered that Kevin now has his third tooth! It is on the bottom like the other two, and that is the only reason I noticed when he was laughing (as I thought that he had something in his mouth). Sure enough, it was a tooth! Just amazing how he worked on that one without letting us know...what a brave little man.
9.15.09: I sit in awe as Kevin has officially mastered the "army crawl" with speed, and isn't afraid to go take back what is his from his big brother. ;) Oh, how my life is changing.
9.13.09: Tyler runs into the kitchen to tell us that Kevin is sitting. Since we left him on his tummy, we were a little surprised when we ran into the living room to see him sitting up. Guess he learned a new skill!
9.12.09: Kevin gets his second tooth! It sits right next to his first tooth (so this new one is lower row, and the left one in the middle), and oh they look so cute especially when he does his all out smile.
8.13.09: Kevin sat on his first "big boy" toy car and had a blast holding on to the steering wheel, pushing the horn to make music, and just drooling all over it! Definitely, starting to become a big boy!
08.07.09: Got up on all fours, moved one knee then the other forward, and then belly flopped.
9.13.09: Tyler runs into the kitchen to tell us that Kevin is sitting. Since we left him on his tummy, we were a little surprised when we ran into the living room to see him sitting up. Guess he learned a new skill!
9.12.09: Kevin gets his second tooth! It sits right next to his first tooth (so this new one is lower row, and the left one in the middle), and oh they look so cute especially when he does his all out smile.
8.13.09: Kevin sat on his first "big boy" toy car and had a blast holding on to the steering wheel, pushing the horn to make music, and just drooling all over it! Definitely, starting to become a big boy!
08.13.09: Still working on figuring out how to crawl, but mainly his attention is now on the new thing invading his mouth. Kevin is chewing on everything from toys, to his cheek/hands, to my clothing. He is in good spirits despite having his first tooth coming in!
08.09.09: Just after lunch, Adam discovered that Kevin has his first tooth (lower right)! He has been a little fussy, but is mainly so happy that we wouldn't have known but for him wanting to chomp on everything and drooling up a storm!
08.07.09: Got up on all fours, moved one knee then the other forward, and then belly flopped.
